The research being done in the area of sound therapy is quite astounding. We are just barely skimming the surface of the wonder and power that sound can play in helping us to achieve an optimum level of health.

The sensory organs that comprise of the five senses of the human body such as the eyes, ears, tongue, and even the skin are highly sensitive to specific types of energy. For example, the nose and tongue detects chemical energy, the eyes detect energy from light, and the skin detects heat and mechanical energy. Sound is considered a form of mechanical energy.

Mechanical forces are constant, such as the weight of this book in your hand, or they can vibrate, like the thunderous roar of a lightning storm. What’s important to understand is that sound is generated by mechanical vibrations. Sound vibrations extend from a few cycles per second to millions of cycles per second.

Human hearing is limited to a range of between 20 to 20,000 cycles per second. Sound at a vibration rate of greater than 20,000 cycles per second is called ultrasound. Other mammals can hear ultrasound, some such as whales approach 100,000 cycles per second. Physicians now use imaging techniques based on ultrasound (mechanical vibrations at millions of cycles per second) to examine the unborn child.

The job of the human ear is to analyze any and all incoming sounds and then transmits the data it receives to the brain for analysis. The brain then interprets this data, assigns meaning to this data which later because information for the body to take the necessary action required.

This all seems very straightforward but what I’d like you to consider is that the human ear is not simply processing the vibration that the body is receiving. Vibration is energy and as we know everything in this world is in some form or another derived from energy. All vibrations have their natural state at which they vibrate in the optimum range is called resonance.

When we are in resonance, we are in balance. Through the use of sound we can heal our bodies. Resonant frequencies help to restore every organ, every cell, every bone, and gland of our body to their natural states.

You’re probably familiar with the word disease, another way to look at this word is to insert a hyphen between the letters “dis” and “ease”. When we are not running at an optimum level of health our bodies are not at “ease”. In other words they are no longer vibrating at their resonant frequency.

The use of sound therapy in relation to transforming our emotions is quite a powerful tool. Through the use of tools such as biofeedback, scientific research is showing us that thoughts are indeed measurable and have their own distinct sound waves.

In some cultures it is quite common to refrain from fully expressing how we feel. All sorts of images pop up in our mind when it comes to truly expressing our emotions. Judgments, self-esteem, and our own fear of looking bad prevent us from allowing this emotional energy to have an outlet. As a result the unexpressed emotional energy becomes trapped and the energy that is no longer cleared sooner or later will show up in the physical body as disease (dis-ease).

When we are upset or angry about something or someone the emotion is not the result of the person or thing more so it is the result of what is going on inside of us. The term reflection is less about daydreaming and fantasizing and more about looking in the mirror and asking, what is my role in all of this? More often than not you will find that the emotions albeit positive or negative are good indicators of your current emotional state.

It’s liken to the analogy that if you see a homeless person on the street and you feel the urge to give this person money but you have no money to give what do you do? You can only give that which you have and the same is true with our emotions. We can only express the emotions that are within us. You cannot give love to another human being if you do not love yourself.

How can you possibly give something to someone else for that which you do not have? If you are angry or resentful (resent-FULL) most likely it’s because you are angry and resentful (resent-FULL) with your self.

Moreover as this unexpressed energy begins to grow it becomes magnetic in nature and draws into your life more of the same type of energy. You may see this show up in the experiences, circumstances, and relationships of your life.

Energy vibrating at a higher level of frequency will only draw positive healthy experiences, while energy that is vibrating at a low level of frequency that we would consider negative and unhealthy. Birds of a feather flock together. And energy is no different.
