Finding the right gear to workout in can sometimes be a chore. Especially when it comes to workout shorts. At first, I tried using surfer trunks, with the thought that, these would dry quickly, be lightweight, and affordable. The only issue, is that when it came to working out most recently while practicing natural movements aka animal moves or ginastica natural movements, I found that I was somewhat limited in my range of motion, such as hip rotations, hip lateral movements and just plan jumping.
At the time, I had been taking some classes in Kenpo and Combat Jiu Jitsu as well as MMA/Kick Boxing. During my kick boxing classes, the students along with my teacher would wear special MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) shorts.
I didn’t think anything of it, until about a month ago, when I ordered a pair of shorts, $13.50 with taxes and shipping included. I thought, “What the heck, I will give it a try.”
Well, lo and behold, the shorts were the perfect workout shorts. They are lightweight, dry quickly, and give me great mobility.
When you think about it, it makes sense, because, the MMA fighters are constantly moving around doing all sorts of movements, and they need gear that will allow them to have the fullest range of motion.
So what’s the secret?
Really there is none.
I didn’t want to spend a small fortune on workout shorts, seeing how the majority of the products come from China anyways, so I thought, “Why not just order direct from China?”
I went to Alibaba, really Ali Express which is just like Alibaba without the quantity limits, in other words, you can buy just 1 item and still get the huge price savings as if you were buying in bulk.
Just open an account, it takes literally a few minutes, and you are good to go.
I typed, “MMA Shorts Mens” (For those women out there just substitute the word “men” for “women” in the Search, and I was off to the races.
I live in Spain, so I made sure that the “MMA Shorts” I was searching for could even ship to my country.

In conclusion, MMA/Kickboxing shorts are hands down one of the best and cheapest forms of workout gear. They are lightweight, super affordable and allow full range of motion.
